Josephine Kanale knew about Johanum. She had read about it in the history Logs. But she assumed those stories were myths. It was said that in Johanum, identity and personality fade away into nothingness. Now here she was, wandering the docks of Johanum, alone. All the stories were true.
Most prisoners don't escape Johanum. Most don't want to. When the Priests who rule Johanum offer their “gift” of a quick, painless death, it is accepted with gratitude.
The leaders of the Khanist military have their eyes on Josephine for a rescue mission. She has intelligence they can use to help defeat the Priests and destroy their power.
