Utopiates

Utopiates is a cyberpunk-inspired science fiction audio drama set in a dystopian future Los Angeles, where drugs can be encoded with people's personalities.

In the near future, science is able to distill human personalities into a drug-form. Called utopiates—a merging of the words utopia and opiate—these drugs allow users to swap personalities with the “mental imprints” of other people. Every user has his or her own reasons for seeking chemical escape, but all soon learn the high price of “soul swapping.” At its core, Utopiates is an unflinching portrayal of human behavior at its most extreme.

The audio drama is based on a graphic novel by Josh Finney and Kat Rocha, produced by The AudioComics Company, and stars Denise Poirier, best known as the voice of MTV's Æon Flux.

It is currently in pre-production and seeking funding on Kickstarter (see link below) and is scheduled for release in October, 2014. If the fundraising campaign exceeds its initial goal, it will create new audio drama content, doubling the length and including three new stories.
